1N6325US Diodes - Zener - Single Application Field and Working Principle

1N6325US is a single zener diode designed for medium power operations . It is made from silicon and is part of a large variety of diodes available. 1N6325US is used in a wide range of applications such as voltage stabilisation, over-voltage protection, low-voltage regulation, DC-DC converters and more. The Working Principle of 1N6325US

Single zener diodes are constructed in such a way that they provide a nonlinear voltage-current characteristic across its components. 1N6325US is designed to have an exponential voltage coefficient, which means its reverse voltage increases exponentially with an increase in the current passing through it. When the diode is forward biased, the current flows through the diode, allowing some current to flow across the junction in an exponential fashion, whereas when it is reverse biased, the reverse current or zener current flows through the junction. This zener current is the high and stable current which is necessary for applications that require a certain voltage.

How Does 1N6325US Operate?

1N6325US operates in the same manner as other single Zener diodes. This exponential increase of the voltage across the diode places the diode operation in the Zener breakdown region, where the voltage is maintained at a certain level and the current passing through the diode, the Zener current is maintained at the same level. As stated earlier, the Zener current is precisely what makes the diode suitable for medium power operations.

Uses of 1N6325US
