The Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT) are an important part of the power line protection system that is designed to protect electronics and communications equipment as well as electrical components from high voltage electrical spikes. GDTs are small, air-filled tubes with special dielectric elements that absorb the electric energy and distribute it safely, reducing its impact on sensitive equipment. GDTs are designed to withstand high voltages with low energy, thus providing a more reliable protection than alternate systems for lightning and other over-voltage protection.
When an over-voltage spike occurs, GDTs provide protection by absorbing the electric energy and dispersing its components in a safe manner.
