The 2305-1DCG8 is a best-in-class programmable clock generator and particularly designed for multiphase applications. It provides pulse-width modulation (PWM) outputs that used within the advanced computing and communication systems.

Being used in applications such as Xilinx FPGAs and system-on-a-chip (SoC) designs, 2305-1DCG8 clock generator helps maximize performance, reduce design complexity and cost. It is an ultra-low-power and low-jitter clock generator.

Application Field

The 2305-1DCG8 clock generator is ideal for applications of signal generation, signal distribution, clock/data regeneration, frequency synthesis for Xilinx FPGAs as well as for other SoC designs. It provides more than 75 programmable power down and sleep modes that help to reduce supply current and power consumption. The clock generator produces fewer spurious signals and has better signal transmission efficiency.

Working Principle

The 2305-1DCG8 supports clock generation from low-frequency to high-frequency (>1GHz). It features a low-noise, low-jitter programmable PLL outputs and multiple output dividers. A single crystal oscillator input can provide up to 20 independently adjustable, low-jitter outputs. It also supports multiple CMOS, LVDS, LVPECL, and CML output pairs with adjustable or fixed fanout ratios.

The clock generation generates multiple output clocks from a single frequency signal or multiple signal inputs. It contains a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal generator and multiple output divider circuits. The PWM signal generator has different frequency scaling which allows to change the PWM output frequency. The multiple output divider circuits consists of independent divide-by-N counters that are used to divide an input signal into multiple output clock signals. It also features an integrated low-noise, low-jitter programmable PLL which can be used to re-create an extremely low jitter reference clock from a wide range of input signal sources.

The 2305-1DCG8 utilizes spread-spectrum techniques and features flexible adjustable switchable power-down and sleeping modes. The clock generator outputs can be locked to external clocks through phase-locked loop (PLL) phase-shifters. It also supports hardware phase-shift means to achieve phase-shift on a single output.
