Fixed inductors are the components whose inductance cannot be adjusted. The 236R8C is one such fixed inductor that is reliable, durable, and cost-effective.The 236R8C is anisotropic, solenoidal inductor used in power circuits. It comprises ferrite core material, conductive copper tape for winding, a polyester sleeve, and a tin-plated lead frame. The core’s ability to magnetically saturate and alignment effects on winding of the copper tape provide efficient operation.The 236R8C is generally used for resistive-capacitive frequency filter networks, noise suppression filters, and differential and balanced line transmission systems. The inductive characteristics of this unit make it suitable for the aforementioned applications.The 236R8C has a wide range of operating characteristics that make it suitable for different applications. The coil inductances range from 0.5 mH to 3.5 mH, with a current rating of 150 mA and resistance rating of 100 mΩ. The inductor has a voltage rating up to 40 Vrms, with impedance levels between 20 Ω and 240 Ω. It also provides adequate heat dissipation, with a temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.The working principle of the 236R8C is based on Faraday’s law of induction. When a current is applied to a wire coil, an electromagnetic field is produced around the coil’s circumference. This electromagnetic field induces an electric current in the coil. As the current flows through the coil, it creates a magnetic field that amplifies the initial electromagnetic field. The consequent magnetic field then induces an electric current in the wire coil. This secondary electric current is called the induced current.When a voltage is applied to the 236R8C, the electric current flowing through the coil generates a magnetic flux which induces a magnetic field around the coil. This creates a voltage opposing the original applied voltage, known as the back electromotive force (EMF). The magnitude of the back EMF is proportional to the rate of change of the applied voltage. Therefore, when a current is applied to the 236R8C, the level of the back EMF created opposes the current and reduces the total amount of current flowing through the coil.The 236R8C is an economical, versatile, and dependable fixed inductor with wide applications. It can be utilized in power circuits and used for resistive-capacitive frequency filter networks, noise suppression filters, and differential and balanced line transmission systems. The working principle involved is that of Faraday’s law of induction.
