Film capacitors are polarized components, which are usually composed of a dielectric film and two narrow metal electrodes. The main feature of film capacitors is their high working voltage, low dissipation factor and excellent insulation capability. It is designed for applications requiring high ripple current capabilities, high capacitance stability, high working voltage and low equivalent series resistance (ESR). It has a wide working temperature range from -25˚C to +85˚C, and has a rated voltage of 6.3V. The 23FB44225-F offers excellent performance in both high frequency and low frequency applications. It is mainly used in DC to DC converters, portable electronics, high frequency power supplies, LCD cameras, automotive electronics and other electric devices. The principle working of a film capacitor is simple. When an alternating voltage is applied across the capacitor, an electric field is generated inside it. The applied open-circuit voltage determines the maximum electric field strength inside the capacitor. When a load is applied, electric current will flow through the capacitor and the displacement current, I-C, is proportional to the speed of the voltage change. This displacement current creates a force in the capacitor, thus reducing the voltage on the capacitor.
