Single conductor cables, commonly referred to as hook-up wire, are the electrical wires used for standard applications where a single, insulated conductor is desired. Single conductor cables are generally made from strands of copper or aluminum and then insulated with rubber, vinyl, PVC, Teflon, or silicone. The hook-up wire is then wrapped with another layer of insulation, such as a jacketed cable or a webbing.
