A toggle switch is a form of switch that is manually operated by a mechanical lever, handle, or rocking mechanism. Movements of the lever, handle, or rocking mechanism will alternate the switch between two positions that are usually referred to as ON and OFF. 31NT91-1-OMC Toggle Switch and Its Applications

The 31NT91-1-OMC Toggle Switch is an automotive grade contact mechanism/switch designed for General Motors Original Equipment as well as Chevrolet Performance applications such as the LS and LSFI engines, using a 1” lower actuator. It is also compatible with higher current rated toggle switches such as the 53NT91-2-OMC and 43NT91-1-OMC. Its current rating is 40 amps and voltage rating is 14V. It is designed to mount into the mounting bracket which helps to reduce unwanted motor movement, shock and vibration. The major applications of the 31NT91-1-OMC Toggle Switch include Ignition Switches/Key Start Switches, Lighting, Heating and Air Conditioning, Power Window Motors, Fuel Injection Pumps and various other high current rated applications. It features 19/32” threaded lower shaft and includes top and bottom brackets, connector and dust boot.

Working Principle of 31NT91-1-OMC Toggle Switch

The mechanism of a toggle switch consists of a metal spring loaded lever that is “toggled” each time to open or close the switch. When the toggle switch lever is moved in one direction, the contacts of the switch open or close to create or break the circuit.
