Incandescent Lamps

Incandescent lamps are one of the earliest electrical lighting sources. They use a tungsten filament, which is heated by a current, to produce light. The lamps work because when the filament is heated, electrons are emitted from it. This process sees the electrons being pushed out the filament, which is a positively charged object, and a current of negatively charged electrons being formed.

Incandescent lamps can be used in a wide variety of applications, such as in general illumination, lighting in residential and commercial buildings, automotive lighting, medical lighting, decorative and sign lighting, street lighting, and floodlighting. They are available in a range of sizes and wattages depending on the intensity and brightness of light required and are easy to install and operate.

Neon Lamps

Neon lamps are solid-state lighting devices that use a combination of mercury and neon gas to produce light. They produce a much brighter light than incandescent lamps and are more efficient in terms of energy consumed. This efficiency is down to the fact that only a small amount of electricity is needed to activate the gas which in turn produces light.

Neon lamps are most commonly used as decorative lighting, such as in signs and billboards, although they can also be used in automotive lighting, medical lighting, and outdoor lighting. They come in a range of colors and are relatively easy to install and maintain. They are also cost-effective in the long run, as they require less electricity and last longer than incandescent bulbs.
