Film capacitors, or plastic film capacitors, are capacitors that use a thin plastic film as the dielectric, instead of the conventional paper, air or oil, as with most capacitors. The advantage of plastic film capacitors over other conventional capacitors is that they are more reliable, durable, stable, and have greater temperature coefficient than paper capacitors. Film capacitors are also very small in size, which allows them to be used in many different applications.
