These industrial grade fuse holders are designed for electric motor control, overload protection, short circuit protection, branch-circuit protection, wiring systems, and power distribution panels. They are rated from 30-60 amps and are available with both copper and aluminum screws. The 3835-5 fuse holders are designed for UL Recognized, CSA approved, and NEC 410-60 applications.

Working Principle

The 3835-5 series of fuse holders use an advanced thermal-mechanical design to ensure the highest levels of safety and reliability. The main function of the series is to protect a conductive material (typically wire or cable) from a short circuit or an overload of current. The fuse holder consists of two main parts: the body and the fuse holder contact. A current-carrying metallic conductor is passed through the body and the fuse holder contact, with the fuse inserted between the two.

In the event of a short circuit or overload, the contacts will heat up and expand, which causes the metal contacts to separate, breaking the circuit. This process also forces the fuses’ contacts to physically open, thereby preventing any further current from flowing and effectively protecting the device. The 3835-5 series’ superior mechanism helps keep the device safe, even through prolonged usage.
