Electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) shielding and absorbing materials are used in numerous industries to reduce the interference of waves encountered during the use of any type of device. Such materials play an important role in reducing the potential of devices to be affected by any type of electromagnetic or radio frequency interference. The 4-6-1245 application field and working principle is just one particular example of a shielding and absorbing materials environment.
The 4-6-1245 application field and working principle are a two-part concept that works together to effectively reduce the amount of electromagnetic or radio frequency interference entering the device. A 4-6-1245 shielding material is a type of material made up of an inner conductor (i.e. an outer metallic surface), a dielectric, and an outer conductor. The two outer conductors act as a barrier against any electromagnetic interference, while the dielectric material reduces any radio frequency interference.
Typically the outer conductors are made of materials such as aluminum, copper, steel, etc., and the dielectric material is made of materials such as mylar, rubber, plastic or paper. The shielding material is designed in such a way that it can effectively block any electromagnetic interference that tries to enter the device. To reduce radio frequency interference, the dielectric material acts as an absorber of any radio frequency energy.
The working principle behind the 4-6-1245 application field relates to the impedance mismatch of the two conductors, which creates an impedance mismatch also known as a reflection. By creating this reflection, any electromagnetic or radio frequency interference that tries to penetrate the shielding material is redirected by the impedance mismatch, meaning that the interference passes around the device, instead of through it. By doing so, the device is prevented from being affected by any form of interference.
In addition, the dielectric material is also very helpful in shielding and absorbing radio frequency interference. By absorbing the emitted energy, any interference that is emitted from within the device is also absorbed. This type of absorber is also key in providing a layer of insulation between the two conductors that helps to limit the amount of interference that is allowed to pass into the device. Additionally, any interference that is present on the outer surface of the shield is also absorbed, which in turn prevents it from entering the device.
The 4-6-1245 application field and working principle are just two examples of how EMI and RFI shielding and absorbing materials are used in various industries. There are a number of different types of shielding materials available, and the material chosen for any particular application will depend on the producing environment and the level of protection required. Regardless of the type of shielding material chosen, these materials play an important role in protecting devices from potential damage caused by electromagnetic or radio frequency interference.
