Terminals - Wire Splice Connectors
Terminal wire splice connectors are designed to provide a reliable and secure electrical connection between two wires or conductors. They are available in a variety of configurations, sizes, materials, and styles to meet the needs of many different applications. The most common signal types include solderless crimp terminals, free-hanging spade and ring terminals, and screw terminals. The components of wire splice connectors include the insulation, shrink sleeve, insulation backing, grounding lug, connection lugs, and termination points.
Application Field of 41996
The 41996 terminal wire splicing connector is designed for use in larger wire and cable applications such as power cables, train rail cables, solar cables, high-end audio cables, transmitting antenna cables, and other specialized electronic and electric usage where high electrical loads require a reliable, secure, and electrical reliable connection. These products are ideal for securing and splicing a wide variety of different wires and cables such as multi-pair audio and video cables, coaxial cables, shielded coaxial cables, stranded wire, shielded stranded wire, solid wire, and other single conductor cables. They are available in two versions: the dependable military-spec 41996 electromechanical wire splicing connector which provide superior performance and reliability, and the economical 41996 non-electrical wire splicing connector which are suitable for most general purposes.
Working Principle of 41996
The 41996 terminal wire splicing connector consists of two insulated metal parts which fit into a housing with an insulated ring, or terminal block, in the middle of them. The insulated metal parts are held firmly in place with an internal insulated screw or bolt, while the insulated ring provides a secure electrical connection between the two. The insulated metal pieces are usually made of stainless steel and are designed to resist corrosion and provide excellent electrical conductivity in extreme temperatures. The heat-shrinkable polyolefin insulation is placed over the wire and is secured with a crimp or plastic heat-shrink tubing which helps to provide a secure electrical connection.
When the electrical connection is made, the two parts of the wire splicing connector are first put together. Then an insulated line is placed into the terminal block, allowing electrical current to flow freely between the two connected wires. The heat-shrinkable polyolefin insulation is then placed over the wire, shrink-wrapping the connection and providing excellent thermal management. The finished splice connection is then tested to make sure that it is secure and free of any electrical interference or shorts.
The 41996 terminal wire splicing connector is designed for high-voltage electrical applications that require greater than 8,000 Volts, offering excellent conductivity, dependable performance, and a safe electrical connection. This product is perfect for splicing two or more wires and cables in hazardous environments, such as automotive, rail, and industrial applications.
