Through Hole Resistors – 41F2R0E Application Field and Working Principle
Through hole resistors are one of the most common passive components found in electronic circuits. It is capable of handling up to 500V of peak-to-peak voltage while providing excellent thermal stability and reliable EMI/RFI protection in a wide range of applications.The 41F2R0E is a three-terminal device, composed of four rectifier-diode connected elements and two metal oxide resistance elements, as shown in Figure 1. It is used to protect circuits against over-voltage (surge) conditions, ESD, and other irregularities. When the applied voltage across two terminals is less than the breakdown voltage, the two metal oxide resistance elements of the 41F2R0E operate as a resistive element that limits current, thus providing EMI/RFI protection. When the applied voltage is greater than the breakdown voltage, current is diverted around the resistive elements and passes through the four rectifier-diodes. At the same time, the EMI/RFI protection is also provided.Due to its high thermal stability, the 41F2R0E is used in a variety of applications, such as switch-mode power supplies, audio-video switching, LED dimming, automotive and consumer electronics, mobile phone protection circuits, and more.
