Fixed inductors, also known as chokes, are electronic components that can store energy in the form of magnetic fields when electrical current is passed through them. A fixed inductor is a passive two-terminal component used to store energy in the presence of electrical current. The core of the inductor consists of a coil of wire that is wound around a core material such as ferrite or powdered iron. In some cases the coil is made of a single conductor wire, and in other cases the coil is formed of multiple wire strands. The value of an inductor can be increased by increasing the number of turns in the coil and/or using a more magnetic material for the core material.

It is self-shielded and its dimensions are 4.7mm x 3.5mm x 1.7mm. This makes it an ideal choice for applications where space is at a premium.

The 4232-182F is mainly used for DC-DC converters, power supplies, voltage regulators, and differential amplifiers. It is especially well-suited for buck or boost converter applications. It has a good noise signal and reduces EMI/RFI effects.

The working principle of a fixed inductor is based on the inductive effect.
