4309R-101-122 Resistor Networks, Arrays Application Field and Working Principle

4309R-101-122 resistor networks and arrays are used in applications comprising of both high and low power applications. These devices are designed to offer resistance and design flexibility, allowing engineers to configure the desired network topologies quickly and easily. The 4309R-101-122 series of resistor networks and arrays provide reasonable accuracy, high power and temperature stability.

Working Principle

Resistor networks and arrays are embedded with a certain number of resistors joined in specific patterns. Depending on the type of application, these networks can be customized to offer various levels of resistance, and different combinations of resistors. 4309R-101-122 networks offer 10 different resistance levels and 2 different combinations. They are designed to provide flexibility and accuracy in higher and lower power applications.

When connected to the source, an electromotive force (EMF) is encountered. As voltage passes through the nodes of the resistor network, the current is carried through each resistor in the array, thus, enabling the desired resistance. The resistance levels vary depending on the number of resistors and their connected ‘bridges’ in the array, with higher resistance being achieved through increased numbers of resistors.

The power handling capacity of a resistor network is determined by the maximum wattage that can pass through the resistors without any damage. In the case of 4309R-101-122 networks, the maximum rated power is 5W. The temperature coefficient of the array defines its temperature stability, which must be considered when selecting a resistor network for a particular application.
