In electrical engineering, a circuit breaker is an electrical device that protects an electric circuit by quickly de-energizing it when an excessive current is detected. Circuit breakers are typically classified based on the maximum current they can disconnect, either interrupting or making current flow. One of the most commonly used of these is the 4410.9004, a circuit breaker that interrupts at a current of 27.3A and also makes at 40A.

The 4410.9004 is designed for use in machinery and electrical control cabinets, including motor control panels, load centers, and panel boards. It is UL Listed for short-circuit protection for up to 125A and designed with a reliable trip rating of 27.3A / 40A. The breaker is also designed to automatically reset when the fault condition is removed, making it ideal for both over-current and short-circuit protection.

4410.9004 Application Field and Working Principle

The 4410.9004 is a circuit breaker ideal for a wide range of uses, including machinery and electrical control cabinets, motor control panels, load centers, and panel boards. The breaker features a reliable trip rating of 27.3/40A, making it ideal for both over-current and short-circuit protection. It is tested per IEEE C37.12, UL489, and UL1077 standards and is UL Listed up to 125A.

The 4410.9004 has a unique mechanism that quickly interrupts the circuit and de-energizes it when an excess current, usually greater than its rated current, is detected. This is done through the use of a pair of bimetallic strips which act as a bridge in the circuit, allowing current to flow when the circuit is healthy. When an excess current occurs, the bimetallic strips react to the temperature, bending and separating and disrupting the circuit.

The 4410.9004 is designed with a thermal/magnetic trip system. This system monitors the thermal expansion of the bimetallic strips and also uses a permanent magnet to observe the current flowing through the circuit. When an excessive amount of current is detected, the thermal/magnetic trip system triggers the breaker to trip and de-energize the circuit.

Additionally, the 4410.9004 is designed to reset the circuit when the fault condition is removed. This resetting feature is designed so that after a temporary overload event, the breaker will automatically reset, allowing the circuit to resume operation. This resetting feature is essential for the 4410.9004 since it is designed for short-circuit protection up to 125A.
