EMI/RFI Filters (LC, RC Networks)Electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio-frequency interference (RFI) are undesired signals that find their way into electronic devices and cause them to malfunction. Environmental conditions such as lightning, static electricity, and power grid fluctuations can all generate these types of signals, which can be difficult to eliminate. Fortunately, the use of EMI/RFI filters can help reduce the level of interference experienced in sensitive electronic circuits.The most common type of EMI/RFI filtering technology used today is the LC (inductor-capacitor) network. This network attenuates high-frequency electromagnetic radiation and typically includes both an inductor (L) and a capacitor (C).
