The 4MA156250Z4BACUGI oscillator adopts the latest MEMS (micro electro-mechanical system) technology, by which the chip itself is produced as a tiny vibrating object and arranged inside an enclosed capsule. This design keeps the oscillator components extremely stable while providing high-accuracy signal frequency synthesis and resulting performance that is superior to other such solutions.

Unlike a quartz-based oscillator, which operates by bouncing electrons off of a quartz plate, 4MA156250Z4BACUGI chooses the MEMS path which involves the oscillator chip being suspended within a sealed chamber containing a gas such as air. The oscillator chip is subjected to a high-frequency and DC bias voltage which, when combined with the non-linearity of the gas, causes the oscillator to vibrate at a predetermined frequency — the frequency of the proof mass. This is known as electrostatic spring mass system.

The operating frequency of the 4MA156250Z4BACUGI oscillator is accurately determined by a combination of the size of the oscillator chip as well as its mass, spring constant and dampening coefficient. This combination of variables results in a system that is extremely stable and reliable.
