The 510KAB-AAAG Programmable Oscillator (pO) is specifically tailored for the military, radar, avionics, instrumentation, and medical markets, with stable frequencies of 10 MHz – 160 MHz, a low power consumption of typically 75 mW, and a ±50 ppm frequency stability from -40°C to +85°C.

This pO is particularly well suited for applications that must meet specific requirements, such as providing a programmable frequency and being easily configurable with the aid of a GUI programmer (pOGen) over a USB interface. This also enables quick and convenient reprogrammability as and when necessary. The pOGen software allows the user to create 160 Mhz clock signal profiles, which can be stored directly in the device’s flash memory.

At the heart of the pO is a voltage controlled PLL circuit based on a 32-bit register. The register is divided into two fields that control the oscillator frequency: the A field is responsible for coarse step frequency adjustment, while the B field provides fine adjustment. The B field is ADC-controlled, with a 10-bit resolution that allows for an accuracy of 0.1 Hz, or a resolution of 0.001 MHz. The oscillator output itself is buffered and further amplified depending on the application, with the option of configuring the pO for logic level output.

510KAB-AAAG pOs also possess a diagnostics port that is used to monitor the power supply, output rise and fall times, output switching times, and output logic levels.
