Programmable Oscillators

The ambitious and advanced 510PBB-ABAG programmable oscillator designed and manufactured by Calculus Technologies is a new type of technological solution for the market. It is an all-in-one, miniature and ultra-low power oscillator which is capable of providing cost-effective, high performance, frequency tunable solutions, perfect for a range of applications in industrial, automotive or aerospace settings.

The 510PBB-ABAG oscillators are able to retain high levels of accuracy and frequency stability, even over large temperature variations, and short term changes in residence temperature or voltage inputs. Additionally, the device is able to operate on a wide range of supply voltages, from 3.3 Volts to 5.5 Volts, which makes it an ideal choice for multiple applications.

This advanced oscillator operates in three modes of operation. The first is Frequency Generation where the user can manually choose the desired frequency, normally setup through the oscillators register settings. The second is Multi-Phase Operation Mode where multiple frequencies can be generated simultaneously with the resulting frequencies being either offset or locked in phase. Finally, there is Programmable Oscillator Mode. In this mode, the output frequency can be dynamically adjusted using the internal counter or an external input signal. The oscillator also has a Sleep Mode to reduce the power consumption.

The 510PBB-ABAG programmable oscillator is equipped with advanced circuitry that takes input for frequency setting signals, power and other inputs. This control circuit uses ABAG (Absolute Balanced Amplitude Generator) technology to convert the phase difference between two input signals into a frequency difference proportional to the phase difference. The ABAG circuit is made up of several components which include a differential amplifier, an empirically tuned control voltage generator and a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). The output of the VCO is then amplified and filtered through an LPF (Low pass filter). The output from the LPF is then fed back to the AFC (Auto Frequency Control) unit.
