Pin configurable/selectable oscillators are a type of oscillator technology used across many different industries to enable the user to make rapid changes in stability, accuracy and frequency on an application basis. This architecture consists of three parts: a VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator); a PLL lock to reduce the impact of reference oscillator frequency variations; and a divider to reduce the output frequency. The VCO is powered by the internal voltage regulator and the user can select the output frequency of the oscillator from its range of 1 to 10 MHz by programming the appropriate control pins. This allows the user to tune the output frequency for application specific requirements. The PLL lock, referred to as the R-C circuit, enables the output signal to remain in synchronous relationship with the reference oscillator so that any frequency variations from the reference oscillator’s frequency will be minimized. The divider is used to reduce the output frequency of the oscillator. Other features of the 513EAA000644AAG oscillator include a temperature range of –55°C to +125°C, a duty cycle of 40/60 and a supply voltage range of 1.8 to 3.3 V.
