Working Principle

The 53413-1 connector consists of an actuator or snap ring that is positioned in a grooved flange, the groove is located near a corner or recess in the face of the connector. When the actuator is pressed inwards, it disengages from the wall of the groove and pushes the cowling outwards to pass through the grooves, allowing the cowling to be detached from the connector. The connectors are equipped with a special holding ring under the cowling, which can be rotated to lock the cowling in an unlocked position.

Inserting the connector to another component is done by pushing the cowling onto the other component, compressing the actuator to the groove, and releasing the hold-down ring beneath the cowling. This action relieves the pressure on the cowling, re-engages the actuator with the groove, and locks the cowling against the other component. The hold-down ring applies force to the cowling so that the actuator is pressed tightly against the wall of the groove, thus providing a secured connection.
