This article focuses on the 55100-AP-03-A Magnetic Sensor, a module developed by Apple Inc to be used specifically for position and speed measurements. The module is intended to measure relative displacement, velocity, and acceleration as well as angular position and velocity in two-axis systems such as that of a robotic arm.

The 55100-AP-03-A is a two-axis magnetic field sensor module that uses Hall effect devices to measure displacement, speed, angular position and velocity. The module consists of two Hall effect devices located side-by-side separated by a small gap. The Hall effect device works by measuring the weak current induced in the device when a magnetic field is applied. This weak current is then amplified and used to measure the magnitude and direction of the applied magnetic field.
