The 56610-502 is formed out of two highly thermally conductive ceramic plates connected with two high-power, high performance thermoelectric cooler (TEC) elements. It is capable of withstanding an operating temperature range of -20 to +108°C while providing a cooling power of up to 15W and a heating power of up to 12W. Along with its high power conversion efficiency of up to 40%, this thermoelectric module is suitable for many temperature management applications including:

- Working Principle
The 56610-502 works on the principle of the “Peltier Effect”. When electrical power supplied to the module, a temperature difference between the two plates is generated. That is, when electrical power is supplied to the “hot side”, the thermoelectric cooler element will transfer heat from one side of the module to the other, causing one side to cool down and one side to heat up.
More particularly, the 56610-502 thermoelectric module utilizes two solid-state thermoelectric couples or “p-type” and “n-type” bismuth telluride semiconductor materials to create a temperature difference between two ceramic plates. As the electric current is passed through the thermoelectric coolers, the material absorbs heat to create an open-circuit voltage while releasing heat, creating a closed-circuit voltage. This results in heat transfer from the cold plate to the hot plate.
Due to its simple construction and the absence of any moving parts, the 56610-502 is able to provide a variety of silent, vibration-free thermal management operations for various applications. The module is also highly durable, with an expected service life of up to 10,000 hours.
All in all, the 56610-502 is an excellent thermoelectric module for applications such as thermal management of laser diodes, cooling electronic controls, serving as heat exchangers, temperature-controlled medical equipment, server control systems, power switch modules, cooling fans and other applications.
