Tantalum Capacitors

Tantalum capacitors (also known as Tantalum-Manganese oxide or TaMica) are electronic components designed to store electrical energy and regulate electrical current. Tantalum capacitors are much smaller than traditional battery-powered capacitors, providing space and weight savings for electronic devices they are used in. They are constructed from thin ferrite layers (or a metallic core) and a dielectric insulating material, usually tantalum dioxide (Tao), which provides maximum capacitance per unit area. This is the reason why they are favoured for small, high-energy density applications such as personal computers, cell phones, tablets and other consumer electronic products.
