TVS-diodes are a popular component found in many electrical circuits. The 5KASMC24AHM3_A/H is an ultra-high capacitance, low-leakage, negative-temperature coefficient, TVS-diode. The working principle of the 5KASMC24AHM3_A/H is based on the principle of breakdown voltage (also known as avalanche breakdown). When a high voltage is applied to the diode, electrons are accelerated in the device, which leads to the formation of an avalanche. This creates an increased concentration of charge carriers, which results in the formation of an electric discharge, and ultimately results in the diode breaking down and dissipating the electric energy. As a result, the device is able to absorb and dissipate transient overvoltage without the circuit breaking down.
