LED indication is a popular form of display in the industrial and commercial field. It provides visibility of indicators and status with a variety of attractive colors and styles. There are many types of LED indications, one of the most popular being discrete LED indication. This type of LED indication uses discrete LEDs to display different colors and conditions.

Discrete LED indication is most often used in applications such as control/power status display and light level/temperature monitoring. It often consists of several LEDs which are usually connected in series or parallel. The colors of the LEDs indicate different conditions, such as red for power, green for ready, yellow for warning and blue for an alternate state. Discrete LED indication is relatively inexpensive and easy to implement due to its smaller size.

One of the most popular forms of discrete LED indication is the 5SUGC (5-Stop Ultimate Green Color) indication system. This system is a 3-wire connection, consisting of a power line, a ground line, and a control line. The 5SUGC indication system is capable of providing an LED indication from 5 distinct colors – green, yellow, orange, red and blue. This system is widely used for applications such as alarm signaling, level control, motion control and multitasking.

The working principle behind the 5SUGC indication system is quite simple. The system starts with the power line being connected to the power supply. The power supply then provides power to the ground, control and LED lines. When the control line is set to logic 1, the LEDs will all be set to green (the default color). When the logic of the control line is set to logic 0, the LEDs will begin to change colors. Depending on the logic level of the control line, the LEDs will display different colors, indicating different conditions.
