PMIC - Supervisors: 603-00002 Application Field and Working Principle
PMIC - supervisors are devices that detect, monitor, and control various signaling and power in electronic systems. Moreover, they empower designers to develop efficient, reliable, and low-power solutions to meet the performance needs of system application. PMIC supervisors grant this by providing features such as inrush current limit, power-on reset and sequencing, over temperature, wake-up and brownout reset.
The 603-00002 is a voltage detector with low supply current, that is widely used in the following system blocks:

The 603-00002 voltage detector monitors the input voltage using its internal bandgap reference, built-in window detector, and low-current output driver. The operation of the window detector is based on the voltage window that configured by the trip voltage (V TRIP ) and the reset voltage (V RESET ) pins.
The trip voltage (V TRIP ) pin sets the voltage point at which the detector triggers the IC output low (i.e. internal voltage is lower than the external trip voltage). The reset voltages (V RESET ) pin sets the voltage point at which the detector triggers the IC output high (i.e. internal voltage is greater than the external reset voltage).
The 603-00002 voltage detector operation begins with a high-voltage level setting at the trip point (V TRIP ) when the input voltage is less than the V TRIP , it will trigger the output of the IC to low impedance. The output is in the low state until the input voltage reaches the reset point (V RESET ) which is set by the voltage on the V RESET pin. When V RESET is less or equal to the trip voltage, the IC will reset and the output goes high.
By connecting V RESET to 0V, the trip point is adjusted to the upper threshold of the IC and the reset voltage point is set to the minimum voltage level. In this way, the design is proofed against false reset failures and keeps latched in the tripped state until powering off and restarting.
Moreover, the 603-00002 voltage detector IC has a power-on reset delay feature. This feature can be used to control the power-on reset delay time in order to safely power up the IC as the second time delay could be as low as 0.5ms and can be adjusted up to 200ms. Additionally, the 603-00002 IC implements an inrush current limit. The inrush current limit helps in reducing the current in order to protect power supply from the sudden surge of current, something that otherwise will arise in the system.
