The 6308 SL001 is composed of three 2.5 mm2-sized conductors, made of aluminum and protected by a polyethylene sheath. As the name suggests, each conductor carries a single-phase current and is connected to each other in series. This arrangement allows the same current to flow through all the conductors. This current is also known as the ‘balanced current’ and is the basic application of multiple conductor cables.

The working principle of this type of multiple conductor cables is in the principle of copper induction. The alternating current passing through each of the conductors creates a changing magnetic field. This magnetic field induces a current on the adjacent conductor due to magnetic flux coupling. The magnitude of this current is directly proportional to the magnitude of the current that created it. This induced current has a direction that is opposite to the current that caused it. So, the current on each conductor will be seen decreasing step by step. As all the conductors are connected in series, this current is seen travelling from one conductor to the other, until it completes the circuit.

Thus, the amount of current passing through each conductor remains constant throughout the length of the cable.

In terms of safety, the 6308 SL001 cables also offer protection against electrical shock danger due to current inversion. This is because, the current induced on each conductor due to the alternating magnetic field is always in the opposite direction of the current that creates it. This means that the total current passing through the conductor at any given point is always in the opposite direction of the current at the start of the conductor. In addition, these cables are also resistant to most chemical agents, making them suitable for applications in areas that involve corrosive elements.
