630FMM fuses are a type of specialty electrical fuse used for a variety of applications. They are designed to protect high-voltage, low-amperage loads from overcurrent and short-circuits. The fuse body is constructed from either low-alloy copper or aluminum and is threaded for easy installation. The fuse element is made from silver-plated copper or aluminum and the contacts are normally carried inside the fuse body. The fuse body can also contain a terminal to carry the external leads.

630FMM fuses are typically used in applications such as high-voltage transformer rectifiers, power lines, welding, and high-voltage switching. The rated voltage is 630 volts, the rated current is 500mA, and the time delay is 2.5 seconds. The time-delay feature allows a load to draw higher currents for a short period of time before the fuse activates. This feature is excellent for protecting highly-sensitive loads and circuits from sudden surges or current overloads.

In operation, 630FMM fuses work on the principle of allowing current to flow until the fuse element is heated past a certain point, causing a thermally-activated element to trip and break the circuit. This is done by using a fusible link made of metal with a high melting point. The link is encased in a thick sheet of insulation and is placed inside the fuse body. When a surge of current passes through the fuse, it produces heat which is absorbed by the fusible link. The link gradually melts and, when it reaches a certain point, it triggers a thermal element in the fuse body which causes the circuit to open.

In addition to its overcurrent protection, 630FMM fuses can also be used to protect other loads, including motors, relays, switches, cables, and other equipment. They may be used in environments where other fuses cannot be safely used, such as in hazardous locations. They may also be used in certain low-profile applications where headroom is limited.

630FMM fuses are well-suited for many applications due to their excellent current-carrying capacity, fast response times, and their ability to protect against overloads and short circuits. They are relatively easy to install and most often require only simple tools to connect the wires. They offer a range of time-delay settings, which allows them to be customized to suit different applications. These features make them ideal for use in a wide variety of industrial settings.
