Terminals - Wire Splice Connectors

The 63130-2 application field and working principle are distinct from other types of terminals and wire splices, providing a reliable, reliable wire connection to improve the safety of the connection.

The UL 63130-2 standard is a generally accepted and recognized international standard for insulated wire splice connectors. This standard applies to insulated, non-insulated and partially insulated solid and stranded strand conductors with a rated current not exceeding 20A, AC/DC voltage up to 1000V and conductor cross-section not exceeding AWG 5/8.

The UL 63130-2 application sets out the following requirements for insulated wire splices, splices and insulation shells:-

• In accordance with UL 63130-2 of the standard, the contact must be mechanically and electrically reliable.
• Application of insulation material which will not against the flame retardance, mechanical strength, heat and chemicals.
• The insulation layer must be able to maintain its full insulation value for at least 10 seconds at temperatures less than 125°C.

Working principle of 63130-2 terminals and wire splices:

63130-2 terminals and wire splices have two parts. The first part is an electrical contact made of copper or tin alloy that is crimped or soldered to the wire. The second part is an insulation wrapper, such as PVC or Polyolefine, which is then crimped or soldered to the electrical contact. Together, the two parts are known as a terminal and wire splice.

Insulated terminals and wire splices provide reliable electrical connection when crimped or soldered correctly. When crimped, the connector should be placed into the crimp tool and the crimp arms should be closed gently without stressing the contact. This will ensure a reliable connection. Soldering is a reliable method of connecting terminals and wire splices provided the surface is clean and that the wetting agent used is of the correct composition.

Splices and insulation shells should be Vibration Resistant and Waterproof.

The UL 63130-2 standard, and the use of terminals and splice connectors, provides a reliable, secure electrical connection which enhances the safety of the connection and electrical system as a whole.
