The 6N139VM is an optoisolator with a transistor and photovoltaic output.The 6N139VM contains a 6-pin dual-in-line package that consists of a photodiode, a possible opto-isolator transistor, and a photovoltaic cell. It is used to isolate two circuits in order to protect them from each other and prevent one from affecting the other one.
