The 70ADJ-5-FL0G is commonly used in various automotive, medical, industrial, and commercial applications such as, industrial automation, wiring control systems, robotics, remote instrumentation, automotive/trucking, and power distribution. It is preferred in harsh and demanding environments, such as wet or dusty environments. Additionally, it can be used in extreme temperature conditions, ranging from -55C to +125C.

Working Principle

The 70ADJ-5-FL0G consists of an outer shell, latch and terminal inserts and it can form sealed areas against dirt, dust, and water. For connection, the two parts of the connector are brought together and a rotary latch clamps the two parts together and thus forming two sets of redundant contacts. The first set of contacts which includes terminals, functions when the outer shell is connected and the second set of contacts which consists of a series of spring-loaded pins are retained in the second part of the connector and gets engaged when the outer shell and latch are combined. These spring pins secures each contact, making sure it is electrically and mechanically connected reliably and firmly. This contact system reduces any risk of electrical failure or malfunction due to vibration, shock, or motion of the connector parts.

To make sure a secure connection, the 70ADJ-5-FL0G features a robust plastic latch that is designed to provide an audible click when it is engaged in the connector. This feedback is very helpful in challenging conditions when visual control of the connector is not possible. A keying system has also been included in the design that it won’t be mismatched between circuits and systems.

The 70ADJ-5-FL0G is designed for both wire-to-wire connection and wire-to-board up to 3.0mm and 6.0mm with a contact current rating up to 8A and a voltage rating of 125V. Additionally, the sealable version provides an IP50 level of protection to terminals and aids in preventing any sort of corrosion.
