Backplane Connectors - Specialized connectors are devices that aid in transferring multiple signals and power from the backplane of a system. Backplanes, also known as bus bars, are printed circuit boards that contain dedicated signals that are routed for communication between components. As such, these connectors are designed to meet specific performance requirements. 73250-001 backplane connectors are one such specialized connector.
73250-001 backplane connectors are designed for insertion into backplanes with a 7.5mm x 8mm pitch. They feature a dual row contact configuration, with four (4) contacts per row. The contacts are arranged perpendicular to the board, with two (2) rows mounted to each side. The connector is composed of two (2) parts that snap together to form its enclosure, namely the top and bottom parts. The two parts are made of thermoplastic polyester and reinforced with metal inserts in the corners, offering superior vibration and shock resistance and improved rigidity.
The 73250-001 backplane connector’s key feature is its ability to support up to 32 backplane signals. This makes it ideal for applications requiring high integration density and numerous signals, such as Telecommunications, Data communications, Industrial control, and Medical instrumentation, among others. With a current carrying capacity of up to 6.3 amperes, the connector can reliably handle higher current carrying requirements as well.
In terms of working principle, the 73250-001 backplane connector operates through a snap-in insertion approach. To design-in the connectors in the end-user’s application, first a hole in the backplane needs to be made to allow accommodation of the two-part connector. Then the two parts are joined together and snapped into the backplane hole. This motion simultaneously compresses the contacts on both sides, (where the contact springing occurs), and creates the connection between the two sides. Finally, the connection is secured with a pre-molded quick-release button, which is already part of the top part of the connector.
The 73250-001 backplane connector was designed to meet the tough demands of industrial markets, namely long working life and high performance. The connector features a durable design and is equipped with corrosion proof contacts, so it can withstand harsh environmental conditions.
