When the enable input (E) is at logic "High", the path between the data inputs (A0-A7) and outputs (Y0-Y7) will be determined by the select inputs (S0-S3). If all 4 select inputs (S0-S3) are at logic "High", the path between data inputs (A0-A7) and outputs (Y0-Y7) will be from input (A0) to output (Y0), input (A1) to output (Y1) and so on up to input (A7) to output (Y7).If one of the select inputs (S0-S3) is at logic "Low" and the rest of them are at logic "High", the path will change. For example, if select input (Sri) is at logic "Low", then the path between data inputs (A0-A7) and outputs (Y0-Y7) will be from input (A0) to output (Y3), input (A1) to output (Y4) and so on up to input (A7) to output (Y10).In a similar way, the select inputs (S0-S3) can be manipulated to route the data inputs (A0-A7) to other outputs (Y0-Y7). This feature of 74CBTLV16212GRG4 makes it ideal for use in memory address decoding, data multiplexing, demultiplexing, signal routing, and communication systems.
