74LCXP16245MTD application field and working principle
Logic-buffers, drivers , receivers and transceivers are important components found in various digital electronic designs. The 74LCXP16245MTD is one such product in this family – a Low Voltage 16-BIT Transparent Latch (LVTTL). The functional principle of this product is based on a simple latch where it encodes an input binary word to desired output logic level voltage. The internal architecture of the 74LCXP16245MTD comprises of two input-output banks, each having 8-bits. The selection of which bank is the active one is done by the Bank SEL pin which is externally triggered. Each of the ON/OFF-switching banks works as an 8-bit parallel register. Whenever the SEL pin is high, the LSB bank (D0-D7) serves as the input and the MSB bank (D8-D15) serves as the output. In the reverse situation, when the SEL pin is low, MSB bank serves as the input and the LSB bank serves as the output.The 74LCXP16245MTD has 8-bit control over the source output at four operational modes, viz. Normal, Disable, High Impedance and High Enable modes. In “Normal” mode, all gates in the device operate normally and any change in the input logic states will be reflected to the corresponding outputs. In the “Disable” mode, the outputs are in a high-impedance state, allowing bidirectional data flow depending on the state of the “OE” pin. In High Enable or Low Enable (HEN/LEN) mode, all the outputs are either high or low depending on the “HEN” or “LEN” pin. Power consumption specifications of the device is ~ 56.9 μA in ‘normal’ and ~ 4.5 μA in ‘disable’ modes, respectively. The 74LCXP16245MTD also throws light on the cross-talk effect arising from the on/off banks in terms of crosstalk margin, this being the 75 dB for LVTTL interfaces. In addition, the device provides high noise margins when used in combination with other logic family, e.g. low-voltage CMOS.The 74LCXP16245MTD is well suited for applications that requires 16-bit bidirectional data transfer and this device is available in the JEDEC listed 16-pin TSSOP and SSOP packages.The product offers a great optimization in terms of performance than its predecessors, being the SOIC version of the same device.
