This device is an 8-way decoder capable of decoding a 3-bit binary address input into an active-low S(byte) signal for the corresponding output.[1] The address input is composed of A0, A1 and A2, complimented with enable inputs E1 and E2 for additional control.[2] Data are directed among any 16 output address locations, unless the enable inputs have been disabled.[3] The LVC138ADB,112 device is useful in various applications since its behavior can be adjusted accordingly. For example, configuration in High-active mode is useful when only one input can be pulled low at the same time and Normal mode is used when it is desirable that multiple inputs can be active at the same time, providing a greater range of operation.[4]The LVC138ADB,112 is also useful in video display applications; each output is capable of driving a 30Ω load when 1MA output current capabilities are required and 200µA is provided under 1.5V operation.[5] In addition, In order to minimize the propagation delay of all outputs, they were designed with two stages of inverter and are capable of driving two TTL loads (typical live-load voltage range is V111 = 0.4V to 1.5V).[6]Essentially, the LVC138ADB,112 is a type of data selector/multiplexer which takes a 3-bit input binary address and decodes it into a single active-low S(byte) output.[7] The device converts a 3-bit address into one S(byte) active low output, enabling data transfer among any 16 memory address locations, including RAM, ROM, registers, shift registers and more.[8] Furthermore, it provides 17 select signals from two enable inputs, E1 and E2, which can also be used to enable additional external logic.[9]The LVC138ADB,112 is composed of an 8×1 multiplexer based on CMOS technology and is capable of functions with supply voltages ranging from 1.2 to 5.5V.[10] The output stages provide high sink current on outputs and the input pins exhibit very high impedance over the broad voltage range of the device, which makes it ideal for inteconnecting memories and addressable logic systems.[11] It also features an advance CMOS low power consumption suitable for battery-operated equipments.[12]In summary, the LVC138ADB,112 is an 8-way decoder that is capable of decoding a 3-bit binary address into an active-low S(byte) signal.
