The 74LVC595APW,112 is a shift register with 8 bit storage. This shift register can be operated according to many modes including Shift-left, Shift-right, Input, reset and output enable.

The 74LVC595APW,112 has 8 input pins (D0-D7) that accepts serial inputs and 8 output pins (Q0-Q7) which separately control the flow of output signals. This shift register chip is also equipped with an input latch enable pin (LE) that enables the data taken in by the 8 input pins to be loaded into the shift register in one operation. The working principle of the 74LVC595APW,112 shift register is such that as soon as the input clock pulse (CP) is high, data from inputs D0-D7 is loaded in the register, however the data is only stored, and is taken in as active high. The stored data can then be shifted to the output lines (Q0-Q5) depending on the clock pulse? This means that, with each rising or falling edge of the clock pulse, the content of the shift register will be shifted one bit in the left or right direction, respectively. As soon as the LE pin is brought to logic 0, the data stored in the input pins is allowed to be loaded in the shift register storage, ready to be shifted. This shift register is available in a 16-pin MSSOP package.

The 74LVC595APW,112 shift register can be used in various digital applications such as wave-form generators, LCD controller interface, Switched-mode power supplies, Digital amplitude and frequency modulators, Data splitters and Frequency synthesizers to name a few.
