The switching device is driven by a PWM control signal with a constant frequency and variable duty cycle. The duty cycle reflects the output voltage and output current desired by the user. The input voltage is rectified, filtered and compared to the user-set reference voltage. The error signal is then amplified, filtered and sent to the pulse-width modulator (PWM). The PWM generates the control signal to drive the N-channel MOSFET.The output voltage ripple is lowered by an internal compensation system and a low-loss inductor. The output voltage is monitored by an internal voltage reference, which is compensated for temperature variations.The 78SR106SC is ideal for automotive, industrial and consumer applications such as battery chargers, LED lighting, solar inverters, DC-DC converters, audio amplifiers, telecom power supplies and point-of-load converters. The device is also suitable for remote cutting-edge applications, such as power conditioning in microgrids.To ensure reliable and efficient operation, the 78SR106SC has many integrated protection features designed to protect the device and the load against excessive operating conditions. These protection features include thermal shutdown, overcurrent protection, undervoltage lockout, overload protection, adjustable switching frequency, RFI protection and adjustable start-up time.The 78SR106SC is a highly efficient DC-DC converter that provides power conversion of 2.7V to 21V input voltage to 0.6V to 5.5V adjustable fixed output voltage. Its many integrated protection features, low profile design and wide operating temperature range make it ideal for automotive, industrial and consumer applications. The PWM control signal ensures a smooth transition between the input voltage and output voltage, ensuring that the output voltage is regulated as desired.
