Snap Action Limit Switches

A snap action limit switch is a contact device for controlling an electrical circuit. It works by activating a switching mechanism when a pre-set limit is reached. It is often used in industrial and commercial applications where precise control and repeatability is required.

The limit switch is built around a movable contact arm and a stationary contact blade. When the arm is triggered, the stationary blade contacts the movable arm and a circuit is completed. The arms of the switch are usually equipped with springs that return to their original position when the trigger is released.

The most common application of a limit switch is to detect and control the motion of a machine part. The arms of the switch are positioned so that they will make contact with the machine if it moves out of the pre-set position.
