The 843002AGILF (also known as GNAT) is a highly reliable and versatile frequency synthesizer specifically designed to meet the needs of high-precision analog and digital applications. The 843002AGILF synthesizer supports a wide range of operation modes and can be flexibly configured to accurately generate precise output frequencies across the full range of frequency and duty cycle requirements in each application.

Application Fields

The 843002AGILF frequency synthesizer provides reliable and accurate clock sources in a wide range of applications. These include data communications, broadband networks, software-defined radios, base stations, and wireless communications. The GNAT can also be used in test and measurement and instrumentation applications such as laboratory, medical and security equipment.

The GNAT has also been used in robotic and automation systems for applications such as audio/video broadcasting and multimedia. Working Principle

The 843002AGILF is based on a double-loop frequency synthesis architecture. This design uses two separate feedback loops, one for the coarse frequency setting and one for the fine frequency setting. The coarse loop consists of a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) connected to a digital divider. This divider is configured with a predetermined ratio to divide the VCO output by a desired frequency factor. The output of the divider is then fed back to a digital locked in loop (LIL) control which adjusts the reference frequency.

The fine loop is composed of two frequency dividers. The first is configured with a predetermined ratio to divide the reference frequency, and the second is configured with a programmable ratio that can be adjusted to finely tune the output frequency. The output of the second divider is then applied to a phase frequency detector (FPD) which detects any discrepancies between the reference and output frequencies. The FPD then adjusts the VCO capacitance to bring the frequencies into alignment.

The 843002AGILF also includes noise shaping circuit and a reference clock that can be externally driven or generated internally. The noise shaping circuit reduces jitter and ensures smaller output frequency step sizes. Together, the double-loop frequency synthesis and noise shaping architecture allow for highly precise output frequencies across a wide range of applications.
