Incandescent lamps are the most common type of lighting in use today. They are relatively simple to install, reliable, safe and reasonably affordable. Incandescent lamps, although they have been around since 1878, continue to be among the most widely used light sources.Incandescent lamps work by producing a continuous white light when a tungsten filament is heated in a large vacuum chamber. Heat is generated when electricity flows through the filament, which causes the filament to glow. The life span of the tungsten filament is affected by operating voltage, wattage and other factors but generally ranges from 750 to 5000 hours.
Neon lamps are essentially electrically energized glass tubes that contain a small amount of specific gas. Charged electrons (usually electrons produced by electrodes at each end of the tube) cause the gas to glow, or fluoresce, producing a colored light that can be used for signage or decorative purposes. The gas in the tube may be neon (for red and yellow light) or any of a number of other substances that produce different colors when charged with electricity.
Neon lights provide a bright, intense light, and are highly efficient compared to tungsten filament bulbs. They are also relatively long-lasting, with lifespans of approximately 40,000 hours. The most significant drawbacks to using neon lighting are the high upfront costs and the complexity of installation, as they require the use of specialized transformers and ballasts.
The 86 Application Field and Working Principle has been utilized in both incandescent and neon lighting technologies. In the case of incandescent lamps, the 86 Application Field and Working Principle refers to the fact that the incandescent lamps use a tungsten filament heated by electricity to generate light. The86 working principle is also applied in neon lights, which use charged electrons to excite and ionize gases inside the tubes, creating light. Both types of light sources can be used for decorative, signage or general lighting purposes.
