Design

It is a 0.8mm pitch, low profile design with a current rating of 6A per contact. The mating parts are constructed of an insulator and terminal contacts and are gold plated for added corrosion resistance. The housing is available in a 1-row, 2-row or 3-row variants, with each row featuring 6 contacts.

Applications

The 87471-650 series can be used in a variety of applications including cable to board connection, board to board connection, USB applications, and waterproof cable connector to board connection. The connector is ideal for applications that require a compact design and low profile.

Assembly

The 87471-650 series can be easily assembled with either a hand crimping tool or a pneumatic tool. Its terminal contacts are designed to be crimped on with a hand tool and the housing is designed to be snapped into place with a pneumatic tool. The hand crimping tool is used for the assembly of the 0.8mm terminal contacts, while the pneumatic tool is used for the assembly of the housing. The housing features push-on sockets which lock into place when pressure is applied.

Working Principle

When a mating part is plugged into a 87471-650 header, electrical current is able to flow from the header to the mating part. This is possible due to the terminals within the housing which come into contact with the pins of the receptacle when inserted and create an electrical connection.
