90089-AS is commonly used in the industrial contact sectors. This pressure type contact carries a metal spring-loaded contact that provides a dependable, repeatable, and low-force connection or disconnection. To ensure a reliable electrical connection, this spring-loaded contact contacts the surface of the mate contact by pushing with a specified force. 90089-AS is capable of resisting both heavy and light current loads, while at the same time having quick response time.

Spring Loaded and Pressure

The 90089-AS is made of an electro-plated copper alloy providing resilience and long term service life. Its main feature is a self-acting spring-loaded plunger, designed to move in proportion to applied forces. Upon application of external forces, the contact end of the 90089-AS moves out from its base and securely mates with its mate contact. The spring assists the plunger to increase its contact pressure as it mates.

Within the 90089-AS is a pin-mounted guide cylinder that works as an internal guide. The cylinder helps facilitate the spring-loaded contact plunger to move accurately within its casing and ensure precise contact alignment. A mechanical lock protects the plunger of the 90089-AS from accidental movement as well as prevent contact from mechanical shock or vibration.

The 90089-AS contact also has an additional contact limit stop designed to protect the contact and the contact system from excessive force. This contact limit stop is generated by a combination of an internal spring, spring rod and the contact plunger. As the contact plunger presses the spring rod, it forces the internal spring to increase its tension, which in turn applies the limiting force and its contact displacement.

The 90089-AS contact system is designed to have a long service life as it is able to handle a broad range of contact pressures. It provides reliable operation under cyclic loading conditions.
