93C46C-I/P is a type of non-volatile, low-cost, low-power memory integrated circuit (IC) designed for secure storage of applications such as embedded systems, limited application software and secure credential data. The chip is manufactured on a 8-pin package and is compatible with the 94 series range of ROMs. The 93C46C-I/P operates on a low voltage range and is capable of storing up to 8K of data.Working Principle and Operation
The working principle of 93C46C-I/P is based on the concept of the non-volatile memory. This feature ensures the data stored in the chip remain intact even after power fails. data and code stored in the chip are safe from attacks of any malicious party. The chip supports a wide range of established memory operations such as write, read, erase and lock and also verification of data integrity and data security features.The 93C46C-I/P uses two pins for communication interface. The first pin is used for data communication, referred to as Input/Output line. This pin is used for 8-byte data input/output. The second pin is used for control and command signals, referred to as Chip Select line. This pin also facilitates the initialization of the chip, enables the write/erase and read operations, carries out control of the data input/output.When 93C46C-I/P receives the instruction to write data through the input/output line, it will compare the incoming bit with the stored content. If the data is different from the stored content, it will replace the content with the new data and write the updated data in the chip. If the content is alike, it will not change it.The 93C46C-I/P chip allows reading/writing of a single page at a time. The page that needs to be read/written is determined by the address pointers. For every write operation, a redefined data address must be provided by the user. The chip supports several operations codes required for writing and reading operations. The instructions determine whether a write or read operation is to be performed and the logical address of the data in the chip.Application Field
