The 9FG432AGLFT is an integrated, high-performance clock generator and frequency synthesizer tailored for the needs of high-end embedded multimedia applications. It utilizes a unique combination of on-board PLL and programmable digital logic to generate up to 16 output clocks of any frequency and phase, with a very low phase jitter of only 0.8 ps.The generator can be used for a variety of applications, from simple line rate clocks to more complex video and audio systems, as well as high-speed data communication systems. It is designed to provide a highly reliable and extremely accurate clock output in demanding environments, while sacrificing minimal die area.Working Principle
At the heart of the 9FG432AGLFT is a phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit. The PLL contains an oscillator, a filter, and a phase detector. The oscillator is kept in a stable state by locking its phase to that of a reference clock, provided by the user. For each reference clock cycle, the phase detector generates a voltage proportional to the difference between the phase of the oscillator and the phase of the reference clock. This voltage is then filtered, and the filtered voltage adjusts the frequency of the oscillator, thus locking the phase of the reference clock and the oscillator together.The phase detector determines the output frequency by measuring the phase difference between the oscillator and the reference clock. A programmable logic array (PLA) is used to generate the digital control signals for the PLL circuit to accurately adjust the frequency of the oscillator.
