Crimpers, applicators and presses all provide the means of connecting wires and cables to exclusive ends. In special cases, a special type of press is required to secure a connection. A516 Application Field

A516 presses are used in the automotive industry, mostly in engine wiring harnesses and transmissions connectors. The A516 offers a perpendicular mounting position of the dies, as well as a 30mm crimping stroke and a 109 kN sustaining crimping force. Its compatible die sets are easily changeable/swappable and require no calibration when using different wire sizes, providing an economical and convenient solution. The A516 is also designed to offer easy access to both the dies and wire holder, allowing for easy maintenance.

A516 Working Principle

The A516 press is manually controlled with a button. By pressing the button, the user activates a crimping stroke of up to 30mm. The A516 has an all-metal frame construction, with a steel slider provides 109 kN of crimping force. The press is supplied with all the necessary components to perform a professional crimping job: the actuator, the crimping dies and the wire holder. Each one of them must be properly positioned in order for the crimping process to work accurately.

The user must press the actuator button to activate the crimping stroke. As the actuator is pressed, the press’s steel slider slides down and puts pressure on the die set. The design of the dies allows for the wires and cables to be placed around the machined die edges and then crimped. Once the die set is pressed to its pre-set crimp force, the pressure will be relieved and the crimping process will be completed.

The A516 is a reliable alternative to conventional crimpers as it offers a more accurate and precise crimp capability to those cases in which a secure and reliable connection is paramount.
