Working Principle

A8585KLKTR-T is a continuous conduction mode DC/DC regulator and operates in the switching frequency range of 1.5MHz to 2MHz. It is a complete current mode step down regulator, and its reference voltage is kept at 1.2V. The core of the regulator is composed of two transistors, a buck converter, key components of which are the transformer and two push-pull switch. As shown in the schematic diagram, a transformer with two windings is used to implement the voltage isolation. During the switching cycle, one transistor is turned on and another transistor is turned off. Once the transistor has been turned on, the current starts to increase in the transformer primary winding and forward across the secondary winding. The output voltage is regulated by a pulse width modulation (PWM) control circuit, which adjusts the transistor conduction time accordingly. When the transistor is turned off, the diode is on, and the energy stored in the inductor is transferred to the load as the output voltage, resulting to a regulated voltage.
