AB1813-T3 is an extremely precise, low-sided and low-power real-time clock (RTC) IC. It integrates a quartz crystal oscillator, temperature compensated internal 32.768 kHz oscillator and a high-precision digital trimming function. The device is capable of autonomously generating an interrupt event, which can be selected from an two-hour period to an 65535-minute period. The AB1813-T3 is especially suitable for applications requiring long standby time, good accuracy and low power consumption, such as energy meters, smartcards and personal medical and fitness devices.

Smart cards: The AB1813-T3 real-time clock is an ideal solution for smart card applications that require low power consumption, accuracy, reliability and easy implementation. Working Principle

The AB1813-T3 contains an integrated quartz crystal oscillator, which provides a highly stable, low-jitter reference clock signal. The crystal is accurate to within ±20ppm and provides a highly accurate timekeeping solution. Additionally, the AB1813-T3 includes an integrated 32.768 kHz temperature-compensated oscillator. This oscillator is used as an alternative oscillator for applications that require extreme precision. The device also includes a high-precision digital trimming function. The digital trimming allows the user to fine-tune the quartz oscillator to ensure that it remains accurate over time.The AB1813-T3 also includes several other features for enhanced performance. It includes a watchdog timer that can generate an interrupt event when enabled. Additionally, the device includes an integrated programmable timer that allows the user to select an interrupt event period from as little as an two-hour period to an 65535-minute period. Additionally, the AB1813-T3 contains an integrated battery monitor that will generate an interrupt event if the battery voltage falls below a certain level. The AB1813-T3 is designed to operate in a low power state and contains several features to reduce power consumption. For example, the device can enter a power-saving mode that will reduce the power consumption to as low as 0.11uA. Additionally, the AB1813-T3 includes a power-on reset circuit that will reset the device on power up.In addition to the features mentioned above, the AB1813-T3 contains several integrated protection features to ensure a reliable operation. It includes a programmable ESD protection circuit, an error checking circuit and an open battery detector. Additionally, the device contains a precision clock generator that monitors the frequency at which the device is operating to ensure accuracy.
