Bridge rectifiers are a type of diode used to convert AC electrical current into DC electrical current. They are also commonly referred to as bridge diodes. A bridge rectifier is essentially two diodes in series, with the anode of one connected to the cathode of the other, and the two connecting back to one another forming a bridge.
In applications where the large chunks of AC current need to be converted into DC, such as power supplies and other power-related devices, bridge rectifiers are often used. Bridge rectifiers require four diodes, each of which carry a share of the current that passes through the bridge. As the current enters the bridge through one side, it is either conducted through the diode or reversed in the opposite direction, depending on whether the electrical polarity applied is direct or alternating.
ABF2UTR (also known as Alternating Bridge-Free To Unregulated Transformer Rectifier) is a new version of bridge rectifiers that allows the use of a single transformer for converting AC current to DC. This type of bridge rectifier can also be known as an ABF converter or an ABF bridge. Unlike traditional bridge rectifiers, ABF convertors using unregulated power supply. This can be used in situations where AC voltage is too high or too low to pass through a normal bridge rectifier. The ABF2UTR design is advantageous over traditional AC-to-DC conversion systems due to its better energy efficiency and flexibility in terms of output voltage.
The working principle of ABF2UTR is based on the fact that bridge rectifiers are half-wave rectifiers, and half-wave rectifiers are not efficient in dealing with high voltage because they have a low rectification ratio. This means that more power is lost in the form of heat during conversion. The ABF2UTR converter is designed to improve the rectification ratio of bridge rectifiers and thus may increase the efficiency of the total system. The ABF2UTR converter also has an advantage in that it can reduce the voltage stresses across the rectified power. This is because the bridge rectifiers used in ABF2UTR have an efficiency of over 90%.
The AC current is first transferred through a single transformer that is followed by the four diodes connected in bridge configuration. The current passes through the transformer four times, each time being delayed. This means that four of the diodes are conducting current, and the remaining four are blocking. This results in a smoother output voltage with less ripple, which can help reduce voltage spikes in sensitive components or devices. Additionally, the ABF2UTR converter can also reduce the electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by the system itself.
The ABF2UTR bridge rectifier application field includes power communications, electrical storage, battery power supply, audio power supply, and more. It is used in a variety of applications due to its better efficiency and more improved output voltage. Compared to other semiconductor devices such as diodes and transistor, the use of ABF2UTR is more cost-effective. The ABF2UTR bridge rectifier can be used in places where traditional bridge rectifiers are ineffective, and it can be used in applications where greater efficiency is needed.
